Why cabinets heat up
Every device and power supply converts some energy to heat while charging. Concentrate many in an enclosed cabinet and that heat accumulates unless the design moves it out.
What good thermal design does
- Ventilation paths and, where needed, active airflow
- Adequate spacing/slot sizing so air can move between devices
- Organized internal cabling that does not block airflow
- Component derating so supplies run within safe limits at full load
Heat is cumulative and worst at full simultaneous load — evaluate thermal behaviour at the density you will actually run, not a half-empty cabinet.
