What is USB-C Power Delivery (PD)?
USB-C Power Delivery (USB PD) is the charging standard that lets a single USB-C connection negotiate voltage and current between a charger and a device. Because the charger and device agree on a power level, one connector can serve everything from a phone to a laptop. The current USB PD specification defines power levels up to 240W (Extended Power Range); most workplace and classroom devices charge well below that.
What is a GaN charger?
GaN (gallium nitride) is a semiconductor used in place of traditional silicon in the charger power stage. It switches faster and runs cooler, so a charger of a given power class can be made smaller and lighter. The practical benefit for buyers is a more compact, efficient charger; the charging behaviour is still governed by the USB PD standard, not by GaN itself.
Why multi-port matters for B2B deployment
In schools, offices and managed fleets you rarely charge a single device. A multi-port USB-C charger consolidates several charging outputs into one unit and one wall outlet, which simplifies cabling, standardises hardware and reduces the number of power points a facility must provide.
